Lynhams Hotel, Laragh, is nestled in Wicklow Mountain National Park, near the 6th-century monastic city of Glendalough. The hotel offers 100 km of trails and forest roads, a traditional Irish pub since 1776 with open fire and extensive ales, and spacious bedrooms with natural light and panoramic views of the Wicklow Mountains or Glenmacnass River.

The location works well for hiking, the pub and restaurant serve tasty food, most rooms face the river so you can sleep to its sound if you open the windows, and there’s a quiet upstairs area with plenty of seats for reading or working. Getting there is hard without a car.

The stay was very charming with an on‑site bar/restaurant. It’s a great spot for hiking and fishing, the staff were friendly, and the bar/restaurant had many locals and good food. There was no Wi‑Fi in the rooms, which we only found out after booking, and the rooms are above the first level with no elevator, which was fine for us but worth noting.

We had a fantastic time at Lynham's. While visiting Dublin without a car, we heard about hiking in nearby County Wicklow, took a bus that stopped right at Lynham's, and found everything we needed: a large, comfortable room, a restaurant/pub that served breakfast and dinner, and even a packed lunch for hiking. The area is beautiful, the hikes are amazing, the people are lovely, and the attached pub is lively and friendly. We’ll return!

The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, and the on‑site pub served a pleasant breakfast and dinner – great for relaxing after exploring Glenndalough. The only downside was that the room could use a bit more natural light.
