After a hectic few days in Cartagena I managed to find this tucked‑away spot halfway to Barranquilla. The staff were friendly and even arranged a bike ride back to the main road, and the meals they cooked for us were tasty, so the stay felt relaxing despite the limited things to do in town. The room got uncomfortably warm and the bathroom was the only place with light, so bring a flashlight and hope for a stronger fan; the beach itself could use a cleanup.

The room was huge, the bed spacious and the terrace generous, and the lady running the hostel on‑site was warm and helpful, while the owner kept things running smoothly from afar. A friendly dog roamed the large common area, which added a nice touch. Unfortunately the surrounding neighborhood was littered and the furnishings inside the hostel showed signs of wear and could use a fresh look.

My partner and I stayed here at the end of April and were impressed by Alex and Paola’s attentive hospitality, even upgrading us to a better room at no extra cost while the place was still being renovated. The beach is just a five‑minute walk away, perfect for sunsets, and the nearby salt flats are reachable in about fifteen minutes. Food options around are scarce, so bring snacks or arrange meals with the hosts, but the overall atmosphere is peaceful and the setting has a lot of charm.

Finally making it to that dream town felt surreal, and arriving at the exact spot where Alex and Paola were waiting made the experience even better—they’re genuinely wonderful people with a special presence. Their hospitality left us feeling deeply grateful, and everything about the stay felt magical.

The upstairs room was spacious and the breezy wind kept the temperature tolerable, but the accommodation needs several fixes: there’s a set of steps to reach the room, a hole in one mosquito net, and the shower is just a rubber hose with no curtain, so water splashes onto the floor. The kitchen shows signs of neglect, and given the harsh weather conditions, the price feels a bit steep for what’s offered.
