Solitaire Roadhouse, perched beside Namib‑Naukluft National Park, offers spacious rooms overlooking a central courtyard pool. Stone‑floored accommodations feature coffee/tea stations, seating, air conditioning, and private baths. Daily breakfast arrives in a fireplace‑lit restaurant with large windows, while homemade bread and apple pie are sold. The lodge supplies fuel, tyre repairs, and a post office, uniquely serving the remote village.

The spot is great, close to food and a petrol station, with a pool and a nice room that has air conditioning; the staff were flexible, even giving us to-go breakfast at 5.30 am. The food wasn’t the best but edible, and on the last day there was only a buffet in the evening, which felt pricey for the limited variety and the portions weren’t really full. The pool was quite small and the sun loungers were always taken.

Spotless, a cozy family vibe, and the staff were super friendly. The breakfast was the best in Namibia, even when compared to pricier places. The only downside was that the neighbors were noisy late at night.

Die Lage ist außergewöhnlich im nirgendwo. Frühstücksbüffet war gut und das Personal freundlich. Frühstückbeutel war sehr groß von der Auswahl her und lecker, wurde uns direkt angeboten für Reise zu den Dünen

The reception was friendly, the outdoor area was nice, and we were allowed to stay a second night in the Mountain Lodge, which is highly recommended. The room was shabby, dark, and had mold in the bathroom; there was no outlet in the bathroom and only one usable outlet in the whole room. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the place was very noisy and drafty with windows and doors that leaked, letting insects in. There was no fridge, no water in the room, no mosquito spray, and the pool was dirty along with the towels. The buffet dinner for about €15 per person was not recommended, and they didn’t accommodate my lactose intolerance even though it was mentioned at check‑in and confirmed again. The Wi‑Fi was poor. The positive reviews are hard to understand and the price is completely inflated.
