I couldn’t spot a single positive aspect during this stay. The initial message warned that reception would likely be empty and that the key would be left on the bar—an odd but not outrageous check‑in time at 19:00, especially since I was just there to sleep. When I entered the room, there were no linens, no comforter, just an old plastic mattress stained with paint. Calling the number on the reception sign only yielded a flat “Sorry I can not help you.” That’s the bare minimum one would expect from an hotel front desk. Add to that the constant hallway traffic, the feeling of hearing someone’s breathing from the adjacent cabin, and a sink that gurgles as soon as anyone turns on the tap, as if it might spill into the bed. I’m doubtful about returning and would rank this among the worst hotels I’ve ever visited.

Sleeping on a boat feels fresh, and it’s close enough to Amsterdam’s center to be convenient. The cleanliness, however, was disappointing: no fitted sheet meant I slept directly on the mattress, and I found a dirty towel (with deodorant) in the closet, raising doubts about whether the room had been thoroughly cleaned beforehand. The owner even served breakfast after giving his dog a good pat.

The breakfast selection was solid—bread, cold crepes, apples, yogurt, granola, meats, cheeses, crackers—and checking in and out was a breeze. The host was friendly, and we could even leave our bags on the day of departure. Getting to the central station and the city center was straightforward. The downside was the noise from other guests and the clatter on the boat, though it’s unclear what caused the banging. Breakfast arrived a bit later than scheduled, around 8:40 instead of 8:30. We paid €200 for a single night in a two‑person bunk bed room with a shared bathroom.
