The outdoor area was well maintained, the service staff were friendly, and the dinner was very good. The rooms were noisy.

The location was fine, but this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The owners clearly didn’t invest in the property; the furniture and carpets looked like they’d been there since the building was constructed. Staff were understaffed, the menu was awful, and the bar was even wrong! I booked a two‑day stay, left after one night, and didn’t dare to eat. Everyone else was complaining too.

It was overpriced for what you get.

The location and history were appealing, but the food was terrible—salmon was raw and had to be returned (we usually don’t return food). I now have a stomach ache and didn’t even eat the salmon. The beds were uncomfortable, it was too hot, and there were cracks in the walls; everything felt tired and musty. The building could be lovely but needs a lot of love. It was the most expensive place we stayed on the NC500 and the worst!

The room was spotless, the bed super comfy, and it stayed quiet through the night; the only hiccup was the bedside lamp that didn’t work.
