“Ok for somewhere to rest your head but really rather tired and tatty”
It was very convenient for the race course and offered good value for money, but the bedroom felt tired and a bit tatty, the shower cubicle seals were grubby, and the toilet seat was loose.
A great pub‑hotel with everything you need: a nice room, a new bathroom, fantastic food at the on‑site restaurant, and everything is within walking distance; we’ll gladly return.
“Yes I’d stay again but request a different room”
The place is in a good spot and the staff are very friendly, but the front‑facing bedroom isn’t double‑glazed, so road noise is a real issue.
“Comfortable, good location”
Not far from the train station, it was easy to get a taxi to Highclere Castle, and they kept my bag safely during the day; breakfast was included and a meal could be bought at night, though it was noisy in the evening with drinking guests at the hotel.
“A central hotel with a car park and nice, friendly staff. But short on space and facilities.”
We liked the bathroom and shower, and the bed was comfortable, but there were no hot breakfasts—just croissants and the like, while we preferred a full English breakfast; there weren’t enough pillows, only one chair in the bedroom, and no suitable reading lights, plus a lot of street noise at night.
