Rooms overlook the Mekong, and a blooming garden delights the kids. Bikes are available. Communication with the owner was tricky, and the restaurant and breakfast menus were limited.

We had booked the place in advance, but when we arrived the host was drunk and told us we couldn’t stay. He claimed the property was overbooked. He offered to take us in his scooter with a sidecar to another accommodation, but couldn’t specify where. We found somewhere else.

They provided free bikes to ride around the island. At the far end of the island, far from the centre, there were no lights when riding at night.

It was a shame that the owner didn’t understand the Booking system and we had to renegotiate the price for air conditioning. The listing showed 15 euros per night including A/C, but he asked for an extra 3 euros per day. The kitchen was excellent and the terrace by the Mekong was very pleasant. Still, having to renegotiate the room rate was a drawback.
