Mar-Zel Guesthouse offers a simple, comfortable room in a small town, with a large, well-equipped bathroom; the atmosphere is pleasant, many local guests dine there, breakfast and dinner (extra) are good and plentiful, staff are very friendly and helpful, and for the fair price it’s a very good deal.

The welcome was warm, rooms were clean and neat, air‑con worked perfectly in the hot summer heat; we chose Mar‑Zel so we didn’t have to find dinner elsewhere and were happy with the menu and food, which were perfectly edible and super convenient, though I wouldn’t recommend staying in Britstown, but if you must, this is the place to stay. The room was right next to the outside dining area and it was quite noisy until 10 pm.

Everything was great – the host, the restaurant, and the location all hit the mark, but the family room lacked a door to the toilet.

The place is in a fantastic spot, spotlessly clean, and has exactly what you need for a layover; the staff were friendly and helpful, the vibe was nice, and it felt safe.
