I booked because it was relatively close to the harbor for my onward journey. A helpful person—either a guest or an employee—was there, but the staff didn’t speak English and seemed uninterested or incapable of communicating. The name on the reservation didn’t match the property, yet the shabby place where the taxi dropped me off had my name and registration, so it must have been correct. The room I was assigned was extremely dirty, with filthy walls, no window, and I didn’t dare use the ceiling. For the first time in my life I didn’t change or wash at night because everything was so disgusting. Exhausted from having to rebook my flight, I had no energy to confront this filth. The dark bedding had darker stains. The shower was above the toilet, as expected, but there was no sink. I had to spit into the room or into the foul-smelling toilet to brush my teeth. The sleeping area and toilet smelled like chemicals. This trashy place shouldn’t be offered, not even at a low price. It’s located right on a heavily trafficked street, and crossing to the restaurant is dangerous. Should they offer breakfast? I didn’t see any.
