“The best place to stay in Shymbulak!!! A highlight of our time in Kazakhstan”

I highly recommend staying here — it’s perfectly located next to the ski resort, a beautiful spot, very relaxing, warm, clean and comfortable. We booked an 8‑bed dorm but the two of us had the whole room to ourselves. The bathroom and shower were good too. The host was incredibly kind; we communicated through Google Translate but she was lovely and generous, making our interactions a real highlight of our trip in Kazakhstan. We were served tea and the most delicious pancakes on arrival—a real treat after a day of skiing—and porridge in the morning. We arrived early and could store our bags before check‑in and also after check‑out on the second day.

This is an excellent hostel in an excellent location, with simple but clean and cosy facilities that are fairly priced, and make Shymbulak wonderfully accessible for those not rolling in spare change. I couldn't recommend it more 🙂

“Lovely Place”

Firuzah was such a lovely host, and the place was so nice and cozy to stay in! There was hot water in the shower, everything was clean!

The host was very friendly. They have a kitchen, refrigerator, washing machine, and three adorable cats. Very convenient location: only a 3-minute walk from ski trails and restaurants, but at the same time not in an overcrowded area. I recommend buying food and water in the city, as the only grocery store is in Medeu

The manager is a very pleasant woman who explained everything you need to know, shared food, and was a great conversational partner; the hostel has all the conveniences.
