“It was like coming home”

Maria was the most wonderful host, welcoming and kind. I was walking the Via Francigena and, even though this detour was off track, it was well worth it. After 20 km of walking, it was a pleasure to have a lovely, comfortable room. And the most delicious home‑cooked meal was simply out of this world. I left early in the morning and Maria made sure I was sent off with a croissant for the road, plus some yogurt and fruit before I left. I highly recommend. Nothing negative.

Maria was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was nicely furnished with a historic touch. You can rest well because the house is isolated and really quiet. Maria prepared a good breakfast. We just wish it had been more full‑fledged. I understand that Italian breakfasts are sweeter, but Maria can make other things if you tell her what you want. The only nuisance was the last 650 m to the house, which was on an exposed macadam road. Maybe we had a slightly worse experience because a few days before our arrival there was a strong storm that knocked everything over.

Maria’s hospitality is beyond measure. Fantastic woman. We stayed in a house that is over 1200 years old. Very artistically decorated. I really liked the atmosphere. Around it is quiet, beautiful views. And the breakfast prepared by Maria was delicious. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and received prosecco as a gift – a very nice gesture. Great location – highly recommend!

“Suited a retired kiwi couples needs on the VF-retracing the route after 23 years when we’re in our 50’s!”

I chose this place to break up the walk from Monteriggioni to Siena – a 21 km trek. Walking with our cabin baggage we limited daily km to 15 or less. A traditional Tuscan villa met our needs with homemade dinner and simple breakfast. Maria was an excellent host. The property felt a bit cluttered and untidy.
