The stay at Guest House Yakushima was wonderful! Hiro, the owner, was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always quick to respond to my many messages and questions, making the stay special. The guesthouse was comfortable, conveniently located for exploring the island, and had a peaceful, serene atmosphere. We loved returning after long days of hiking and sightseeing, and they had thought of everything: reasonably priced necessities like onsen towels, affordable bento boxes for breakfast and lunch, beer, water, and bread with butter and jelly. The complimentary pour‑over coffee was excellent, and they even had authentic matcha tea. Those thoughtful touches made the place stand out. We felt right at home and couldn’t have asked for a better experience; we would definitely stay again and highly recommend it. The only thing I would have liked was a few additional outdoor drying racks near the kitchen or front area, as the ones in the back were usually full, especially with everyone drying their hiking clothes. It’s not a complaint, just a nice little addition that would make an already wonderful place even better.
