Domaine de Monrecour, a chateau in Périgord Noir, offers two heated pools, a large south-facing terrace, and a gourmet restaurant. Air-conditioned rooms feature private bathrooms, flatscreen TVs, and mini-bars. Breakfast is served in a tapestried ballroom or on the terrace overlooking Chateau des Milandes. The hotel is 12 km from Sarlat's medieval town and cathedral, with free parking available.

An outstanding hotel in every way. Dinner was superb, the room was excellent and the setting was ideal. We couldn’t reserve dinner for a second night because the place was packed.

We’ve stayed here before, so naturally we compared this visit to the last one. The place is beautiful and well maintained. Two great swimming pools, which we used. The bed was large and comfy. The shower was spacious with good water pressure. We were disappointed when, upon arrival, the woman kept climbing the stairs to the very top of the tower in the castle. We had to walk up 74 stairs and down 74 stairs each time we wanted to go somewhere—about six stories. No elevator. Nothing was mentioned beforehand and no other room was available. The restaurant was the main reason we wanted to return, but they couldn’t accommodate us during the four evenings we stayed. Breakfast was just okay; the meats and cheeses had brown edges—nothing fresh, and the variety was mediocre. The whole place felt understaffed and had a more corporate vibe than before.

The bathroom was great, and the room was spacious. Nothing else to note.

A stunning castle, freshly renovated, with a prime spot in the Perigord and views of Burg Beynac and Schloss Melindes. The bathroom is huge and modern, there’s a pool, and the breakfast buffet is solid. The only downside is that without a car it would probably be tough to get around.

The double rooms were very good—spacious and clean, and the whole area is beautiful and well maintained. The triple room was also large, but the bathroom had a pipe smell, which was disappointing.
