“Hotel mit potential, hat aber die beste Zeit hinter sich.”

The spot right by the fjord is fantastic, the view of the water is gorgeous, and there are private parking spaces. The staff were very friendly, and when we missed breakfast due to a boat trip, they offered a lunch pack, even a vegetarian option. However, there was a very bad, musty smell in both of our booked rooms, and the condition does not match the pictures. The hotel overall feels worn out and used, with crumpled, worn carpets in the hallways. The bathroom is old, worn, and no longer up to current standards. The pier is in disrepair and wobbles, and access to the water is blocked.

“Instalaciones anticuadas”

The accommodation had an excellent location. The views, the exterior, and the breakfast were very good. The breakfast lounge and common areas were charming and the décor was quite unique. The facilities are very outdated; there are no outlets next to the bed, which is quite uncomfortable. The bathroom had hair from previous guests, and the renovation was poor quality, with gaps between the tub and the wall letting water leak, with a drain in the floor. We had a problem with the outlets, went to reception, and none of the staff offered a solution. They had to call a more experienced colleague to fix our issue.

The hotel is a bit worn by the bite of time, but decent. The room on the floor with a huge window overlooking the fjord compensates for all the shortcomings. In the bathroom, one shower glass is missing, and instead a glass scraper was provided. It would have been fairer if the staff had warned us. Collecting water after a shower on our own somewhat spoiled the stay.

The location is stunning – on a fjord. This is an old hotel with no lifts. The food is very good and the overall ambience is what you want for a holiday stay. Like the other hotels, it’s busy with coach loads of tourists, creating a good buzz. The staff are most helpful and kind. We could not get used to the soft single beds in the hotels in Norway, with narrow quilts! The town of Leikanger itself is a bit lacking in things you can do – the local walks marked up on Google are really hard to find, maybe that’s just my lack of competence.
