“Travel Inn is a senior's paradise and reminds me ifthe simple and good life of the 1950's”
I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet and clean my room was; as a retired teacher who grades performance, I only gave an “A” when it truly deserved it. The owners were accommodating, friendly, and kind, and I appreciated the clear guidelines—no parties, no pets, no smoking. Parking was right outside my room door, and the staff were helpful and friendly; the rules were reasonable and the room’s cleanliness was exceptional. Homemade banana bread was offered at breakfast, along with a variety of cold options, organic half‑and‑half, almond milk, orange juice, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, pastries, cereals, and more—simple and adequate. I came for a quiet, clean room and felt safe and welcomed. Everything worked, from the TV to the refrigerator to the air conditioning, and the lace curtains were a nice touch. The location was easy to get in and out of. I stayed for my grandson’s mountain biking race, and my family was at the KOA next to the venue. Unfortunately, my daughter didn’t get a hot shower because of ongoing propane tank issues. Had we not been 20 minutes from the KOA, I might have let her shower in my room before checkout. I had initially booked at the Best Western because it allowed pets and had a pool, but after seeing a one‑star review from August with only pictures, I found the Travel Inn with a rating over nine and canceled the other reservation, so I would never stay elsewhere in Canyon City. Thanks, folks, for making my visit positive—you’re the best at what you do!
I didn’t realize that booking didn’t allow me to use my military discount for the room. When I found that out, I thought I could cancel and call the hotel directly, but I decided to let it go. As a senior woman who rarely travels, I wasn’t aware this would be an issue, but I still felt it was money well spent.
