I had just enough to sleep and shower, but the location was horrible and dangerous.

The room itself was fine; there was some dampness in the corner of the kitchen but it was manageable. When we arrived, the key code we were given to open the front door didn't work. We called the phone and waited ten minutes for someone to come down the street and unlock it. He opened it for us and we went up to the room, which did open with the code. Inside, there were two cards for both the hostel and the room, but those also didn't open the main door. We discovered this when we tried to leave for a walk in the afternoon and found we couldn't get in. Calling the phone didn't help because it was off, and with no physical reception we had to wait for a resident to open the main door for us. The explanations were justifiable because for the pre‑check‑in I received a message here, an email, and a WhatsApp, which seemed excessive for then not providing any useful information, and at check‑out we still hadn't received a response. Also, the staircase to the room is steep, making it hard to bring luggage, let alone a stroller or anyone with mobility issues.
