The hostel was a traditional youth hostel with dorms and shared areas, all clean and the reception welcoming. The double bunk rooms were a bit small. I had mistaken the hostel for being above the pub of the same name, but it’s actually about a hundred metres down the street. The pub itself is great, with a huge selection of excellent beers and is known for its pizzas, and the hostel is a calm spot.

The hostel sat two minutes from the train station and offered a late‑check‑in round at the bar with very friendly staff; it was clean, quiet, and had all the necessary amenities. The bunks were tidy, each with lights and charging points. The only improvement I’d suggest is adding curtains to the lower bunks for privacy.

The location was great. In the women’s bathroom there was no place to store your stuff; a table would fit easily there, and more hooks in the shower would be useful too.
