The Kingfisher

“Nice place, good location, decor a bit tired and the rooms need an update.”

The restaurant was good and the staff were lovely. The rooms were decent, making it an overall reasonable place to stay. However, vehicles delivering to the kitchen from 4 am were intrusive right below our window, and once you know about that early‑morning activity it’s hard to get back to sleep.

“Wouldn’t recommend lacks attention to detail for an excellent stay”

We liked the large car park and the building’s character, which matched the photos on the website that led us to book. Unfortunately, the room’s cleanliness was poor: cobwebs on the ceiling, a heavily soiled mattress protector under clean sheets, no heating (we had to request a heater), a worn carpet due to moths, low water pressure, and scratched paintwork—all of which made the stay not great.

The location was good. The heating was missing and a light was broken.

“We will definitely be returning.”

The location was very close to the function we were attending. The staff were all very helpful and food was excellent

“Excellent!”

The staff were very welcoming when we arrived with our two labradors. Our room was conveniently situated on the ground floor, it was spacious, clean and well equipped, even supplying bowls and beds for our dogs (though admittedly slightly two small for our big girls!). We were very happy with the restaurant, we had two breakfasts which were very high quality and an equally good lunch. We will definitely book again when visiting relatives in the vicinity. The only slight gripe is that the hot buffet breakfast had gone rather cold, even though we were first down for breakfast
