“Bien mais sans eau”
We loved the spot, perfect for hiking up the big and little crags of the volcano. Breakfasts were good, and the guide helped us reach the crater. There was no Wi‑Fi, no water at all, so we couldn't wash ourselves for two days. We also asked to dine on site, but there was no restaurant.
“Lovely stay, but the climb price is steep”
Staying in the middle of the caldera was a real treat, and Ciza and her son were welcoming and spoke French fluently. The meals they served were tasty, generous and good value, but we later discovered the volcano‑climb fee they charged (8,000 escudos) was higher than the usual rate (around 6,000 escudos).
“Exceptional stay and delicious meals”
The place Ciza runs is top‑notch, and her hospitality is outstanding – you really have to try her cooking while you’re there.
“Rose’s warm welcome made the hike easy”
Rose was incredibly friendly – she set us up for the climb to Pico do Fogo, got us a great guide and even packed sandwiches for the trek. Her kindness made the whole experience feel effortless.
“Friendly hosts and great food”
Ciza and her kids were super welcoming, always ready to lend a hand, and her cooking was excellent. She also arranged a fantastic guide for the volcano hike and sorted taxis to and from the airport. Everything was simple, calm and just amazing.
