The staff were friendly and communication was easy, the shower worked, the common area had good equipment, and the street was quiet; the location is close to the Escadaria that leads to Lapa and you can walk to Largo Guimarães (Sta Teresa). The only downside was the blackout curtain.

The rooftop garden is absolutely charming, perched just a short walk from both the city centre and Santa Teresa. I spent most of my evenings there, enjoying the greenery and the view.

The spot is unbeatable – right by the famous stairs and the shared lounge offers a great view. The kitchen is well‑equipped and made cooking a breeze, so I’d definitely book again. The only downside was the lack of air‑conditioning in our room, but the ceiling fan kept us comfortable.

The only thing that stood out was the view from the outdoor area; everything else left a lot to be desired. I waited almost an hour for someone to let me in, got the wrong key left on the door, and found the kitchen filthy with insects crawling out of the trash. Communication with the owner was almost non‑existent, the rooms were poorly cleaned, the intercom never worked, and getting in or out of the place was a nightmare on the steep hill.

The view from the property is pleasant, but you have to deal with a steep hill to get there – which I already knew about. It’s a decent spot if you don’t mind the climb.
