The family‑run property sits in a quiet, strategic spot: 50 m between two beaches (where the mermaid is) and a 5‑minute walk to the main street with shops, restaurants, massages, etc. Host Alex is very kind, as is the rest of the staff. Traveling with family, we stayed in one of the triple/quadruple rooms (not the bungalows). The room is “basic”; if you’re after luxury it’s not for you. It’s very spacious, has a table, a separate sink from the toilet, a shower, AC, and a fridge. Great value. There’s also a bar and a restaurant serving seafood (the Ning Seafood restaurant in Koh Samet, part of the same group). Alex told us he plans to renovate the triple/quadruple rooms, which will become very nice and have great potential.
“prima hotel vlakbij strand Sai Kaew op Koh Samet”
A budget hotel within walking distance of Sai Kaew beach and the Ban Phe ferry pier. The hotel sits on a road, not on the beach. The room is a hut on stilts with a neat interior and a good bathroom. Each room has a veranda to sit on. There’s a bar that non‑guests can also visit, creating a relaxed vibe. If you don’t feel like drinking, you can walk to the beach in 5 min where plenty of bars and restaurants exist. There’s a lot of traffic on this road, so it can be noisy, but not at night. Guests in the hotel bar can be noisy, music is played, but the bar stops on time. Many mosquitoes are present due to the hotel’s hillside location with forest; apply sunscreen and keep your room door closed.
“Esperienza terribile da non ripetere.”
Nothing good. After one night I switched hotels and got a refund. Everything was bad: the room photos didn’t match reality, it was dark and rundown, the beds were uncomfortable with two mattresses stacked on a wooden frame, there were no hangers, no bedside table or place to put stuff, the bathroom was tiny, lacked toilet paper, the shower didn’t work, various items were scattered around, people were smoking joints, and the price was far above what the quality justified. I would never return.
A great choice for solo travelers or couples. Very clean with a superb location. The floor is very polished and slippery, so keep that in mind.
The place is quiet and close to the beach, but there is no way to hang anything up.
