“A very nice place to stay”

The location was lovely and the building attractive. The room had good lighting for reading and was well equipped. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious, with a good selection at both breakfast and dinner.

“An excellent typical English pub and accommodation in a beautiful part of Northumbria”

We were a party of nine elderly people, and the two girls on duty, Poppy and Kirsty, handled assigning us rooms while also dealing with other customers at the bar; the evening was very busy but the staff managed well—Barbara was very pleasant and efficient at dinner service, and Kellis was there to help too; the dinner itself was excellent with a good menu selection, especially the gluten‑free options for one coeliac member of our group, and everyone in our party was highly delighted with everything; there was nothing of note to complain about.
