“Excellent, best value pleasant hotel. Tick✅”
The building looks smart and well presented compared to nearby places, and the owners greeted us warmly at the front. My first‑floor room was reached via carpeted stairs. It was quiet, bright, tidy, and the en‑suite was compact but clean and well maintained. The shower wasn’t very powerful but was adequate and hot water came quickly. The room, in keeping with the building’s history, was solid, had a high ceiling, a large window with a side‑street view, and thick curtains that blocked all light at night. The single bed, pillows, and white sheets were comfortable. An electric kettle, coffee, tea, and biscuits were on a side desk with a nice period chair. The wall‑mounted TV with a hand remote offered standard channels, including BBC News. A hairdryer was signposted in a drawer for those who need it. At its current rates, Alexanders Hotel offers excellent value with very comfortable rooms and kind, friendly staff. The only downside was a few marks and stains on the carpet near the desk and chair, left by previous guests.
