“More of a prison than a hotel!!”

I have to give this hotel a very poor rating because of misinformation and theft, even though the location, food, and facilities were good. We were never told that the door from the rooms to the main part of the hotel would be locked until 7.30 am, and there were no signs to indicate this. When I tried to reach reception around 7.15 am to check out, I couldn't get in—why would you lock guests out? A staff member eventually opened it just as I was about to break the door. We were then told that the fire escape at the end of the corridor could be used, but that seems like an emergency exit and would normally trigger an alarm; no one explained how that was permissible. I was furious. I had left my jacket in the bar area the night before, and when I asked if it had been turned in it was not in lost property, so it appears someone stole it. There were only staff and residents in the hotel at the time, so I suspect theft. The morning was cold, and if we had been in a hurry to get back to the UK I would have called the police and been very angry. This made for a terrible experience. DO NOT LOCK YOUR GUESTS IN, and you owe me £50 for my stolen jacket.

The location is good, all staff are very kind and helpful, and the food is very nice. The rooms feel a bit old‑fashioned, especially the worn carpet on the floor.
