The highlight was being right in the jungle, a truly serene night and our own private toilet, with AC and a fully stocked kitchen; the pets were nice and Mark was very friendly. We stayed at Lodge Fare Taina on a rainy day and water seeped in from the ceiling; the outside toilet was hard to reach at night without light and rain, and communication lagged—WhatsApp replies took three days.

“Overall, it was a pleasant stay that’s a great value, given a few minor inconveniences”

I appreciated the location, the calm, the spacious rooms, the effective AC, and the friendly staff. However, the house had various critters—cockroaches, ants, lizards, mosquitoes—because some window screens were incomplete or broken, the dirt road was bumpy, a light fixture was out, pots and pans had eroded non‑stick coating, bathroom lighting was poor, and the shower lacked water pressure and heat.

“Absolutely perfect”

I absolutely loved my stay at Mark’s Place; every bungalow is unique and quirky, and as a solo female traveler I felt very safe. Mark and his team were all friendly, helpful, and kind, and the place was clean and comfortable. There were no negatives at all.
