The spot is well‑located, central in town, and we liked having a private bathroom. Given the steep prices for lodging in Banff, we thought the place was fair—among the best rates we found.

The laundry service was solid, and the industrial kitchen is a great spot to meet new people. However, the rooms can feel crowded and larger dorms don’t offer enough space for luggage.

Nothing good to say about this hostel. I paid the full rate for an entire room to stay alone, yet I was handed a shared room with three others. The front desk didn’t even check my reservation; they blamed me. The next day, at another Hostel International just a few minutes away in Lake Louise, the staff clearly told me I’d paid for a private room. The rates were almost the same, just a day apart. It makes no sense. If you’re planning to book the whole room, don’t—waste your money and expect a bad experience.

The location is outstanding, the people are friendly, and the room and shower are clean. The rooms get extremely hot, so I had to sit and keep the door open to sleep. The top bunks should have curtains for privacy.
