“A friendly, spacious and welcoming B&B that was great value for money.”
Finding the place was easy with What3words, and the directions matched the description we received when booking the B&B. The scenery was beautiful, and the hostess, Sharon, was friendly. The towels were soft, and the room and bathroom were lovely and clean. The room was spacious enough for a family of four. There were nice extras like shower gel, hand wash, and a kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits. A small TV and sofa were also provided. Everything we needed was there for our one‑night stay. Breakfast was amazing, with fruit, yoghurts, and several cooked options, plus apple and orange juice, tea, and coffee. I had spoken to Sharon in advance because I follow a gluten‑free diet; she let me bring my own porridge, but I still had fruit and yoghurt. Everyone else in our party had plenty to eat. My husband said the breakfast felt lovingly made and had a real “farm‑to‑plate” taste; it looked and smelled amazing. Our four‑year‑old loved seeing the calves outside our room, which was a lovely bonus. We headed to Folly Farm the next day, and the B&B is also close to Carmarthen town for shops or dining. I would definitely book again if we return to South Wales. It’s small and personal rather than a big chain, which was exactly what our family needed. Sharon was kind and welcoming, and her setup was perfect for our stay. She hired helpers to assist in the kitchen for breakfast, and they were polite and helpful; the table setting was good with napkins folded into a lovely fan shape. If you speak Welsh, Sharon clearly enjoys speaking it with other guests. Working on the farm made the experience special and unique. The only downside was that there were quite a few steps to get to our room, so if you have mobility difficulties, keep that in mind; I didn’t see this mentioned on the website. I personally struggled with the steps, but once in the room, everything we needed was there. I also would have liked bacon at breakfast; Sharon explained it was cooked in the same pan as sausages containing wheat. Given the kitchen size, a separate pan for gluten‑free cooking would have been helpful to reduce cross‑contamination risk. I brought my own gluten‑free wrap just in case, so planning ahead helped. The road up is “hold your breath” narrow if you’re used to city driving, but it’s a quiet lane, and we didn’t see anyone else coming down or up when we left, which was lucky.
