“Excellent location clean and tidy room. Parking on site. Excellent value for money.”

The bed was clean and comfy, the shower worked well, and the free toiletries and TV were excellent, yet the decoration and carpet could use an update.

“Not recommended if you want a comfy bed in a room type you actually book and pay for.”

Properly disappointed. The photos in the website have clearly been AI’d. The truth is they are shabby and out of date. We stayed here as it is conveniently located near Durham. On arrival, the pub was closed for food due to the kitchen being flooded. So our plan for a quiet dinner had to change. We made our way to our rooms, we had booked a twin room and a King room. We were given two twin. I asked if we were able to move to the booked King room but the landlady said they were full so they would push the beds together. But charge the same price for a King. On agreement, they said they’d refund the difference. They didn’t. They were politely prompted by email and they ignored this, and they refused to agree with as this was 100% their mistake. The rooms are tired and need a total renovation. The beds are ancient and lumpy. The decor very dated. The paint and general wear and tear in the shower room needs addressing. It was a cheap option but there are some many other options in this price bracket that do it better. It’s around £10 for a taxi into town, or there is a bus stop outside the pub. I’d save your time and look at another option. It was really the principal that they made a mistake, acknowledged it, gave a bit of a crap alternate (I could have pushed the bed together) and then offered no apology and refused to just pay the difference. The management, the decor, the dusty smell, and the unprofessionalism

In a lovely quiet area, staff were welcoming and helpful, room was spotless, beds really comfy, close to Durham. No communication prior to stay, by email, phone and messages, which was really frustrating. (Found 3 different phone numbers.), stopped serving food at 7.30 pm on a Saturday night

“Pleasant stay close to Durham”

The towels and bed linen were fresh and crisp, and the location is close to Durham and good for cycling or running, but we arrived at 22:30 and had some issues checking in late.
