We were thrilled with everything: our room opened 3 hours early, letting us check in and enjoy the pool solo for a few hours. The pool itself is stunning, the rooms are roomy and comfy, and the staff were absolutely charming. We had to leave early for a bus and missed the included breakfast, but the staff kindly set up a free packed breakfast for us to take. Nothing else to complain about—everything was great!

The room was huge and the bed super comfy, and the swimming pool was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging a car for us to visit the orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries, about a half‑hour drive away. The overall vibe is great, with a lovely 1950s feel. The only downside was the absence of a smart TV, but that didn’t bother me much and gave me time to catch up on reading. We dined at the poolside restaurant, which doesn’t serve alcohol—acceptable, though a wine with dinner would have been nice. Drinks are available in the foyer bar, though it’s open to the elements, so it’s not fully enclosed. Still, it’s all good.

The forest setting is gorgeous, the staff are wonderful, and the room is spacious. Having stayed in many hotels, this one stands out as the best by far.

The place is very pretty and the pool is great, but the location is a problem—there’s nowhere to walk to for food or anything.
