The guesthouse sits right in the centre, the staff were friendly, helpful and polite, and the beds were clean and comfortable, but the property shows its age – the double rooms we first booked were dim and a bit below average, contrary to the bright photos online. We managed to upgrade to brighter upstairs rooms with the staff’s quick assistance. For an old guesthouse the facilities are acceptable, yet a 9.2 “excellent” rating with four stars and €175 per night feels unjustified. At checkout we received a separate charge for toast despite having booked “breakfast included,” and the South African‑style breakfast was rather modest; after we complained the extra fee was waived. On the plus side, the beds were very clean and the staff attentive.
