The location is great, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but the double bed feels a bit small.

The place was nice and there was on‑site entertainment. I couldn’t find a plug next to the bed; I use a CPAP machine, so I asked for an extension lead. They gave one, but it didn’t work, so I had to request another that did. It was awkward having a wire across the room, which is a fall hazard, especially for someone with mobility issues. On the third floor we discovered a stain on the quilt; fresh towels were placed on top, and the towel nearest the quilt was damp. My partner had to go down stairs again, so it was the third time we were on the third floor. A lovely staff member brought a fresh quilt cover to replace it. My partner started to strip the bed to help her, but she said he didn’t need to. Once the quilt cover was removed, we found the stain: it looked like someone had spilled a cup of coffee over the quilt before the cover was put on. The staff member was very apologetic, took the quilt away, and said she would try to get another quilt or move us to a different room. She returned with a new quilt, cover, and towels, apologized again, and promised to speak strongly with housekeeping. When we left in the morning, she was at reception and apologized once more.

On arrival we were told the lift wasn’t working and we ended up on the 3rd floor.

“First choice hotel.”

I’ve stayed here many times; the location is superb, the value is good, the breakfast is great, and the staff are friendly. The bed is a bit basic but not uncomfortable, and the quilt could be larger, but otherwise no complaints.
