I was blown away by the kindness of the host and his husband, and the room and common areas were spotless; the pool was a delight, and being able to rent a bike was a real bonus. The vibe in the guesthouse felt warm and friendly, so I highly recommend Umi Oto— as a solo female traveler, I couldn’t have asked for a better place.

The surroundings were quiet, surrounded by fields, so I could relax. I also enjoyed chatting with other guests staying in the same dorm. The only issue was that the shower temperature lever was stiff, so I asked for it to be fixed.

The vibe of the guesthouse changed completely; the living room and kitchen felt luxurious and spacious, letting me unwind. In the women‑only shower room, they had Refa shower heads and Okinawan spa cosmetics, and the soft water was a plus. The pool was the highlight: at night it lit up, giving a resort‑hotel feel, and playing in it with other guests while watching fireworks was unforgettable. The owner couple were wonderful, taking us to a sagari banana spot that blooms for just one night and letting us fully enjoy Miyako’s night. It’s no wonder many people keep coming back; I’ll definitely visit again when I return to Miyako.

The room was spotless and well organized, and the big bed let me sleep soundly. The shared areas and poolside felt open, and I naturally mixed with other guests, which was very pleasant. Casual conversations and one‑time encounters made the trip richer. The master and his wife were very warm and helpful, so even as a first‑time visitor I felt at ease. Talking with them was fun and made the memories even more special. The star‑filled sky and shooting stars seen from the rooftop were truly moving—a lifetime experience. Also, umioto offers car rentals, so next time I’ll book a stay and a rental together.
