The place offers great value for money; it’s far from everything yet very pleasant. The fully equipped kitchen lets you whip up quick meals. Geneviève and her husband are welcoming and quick to respond when needed. We extended our stay because we were so comfortable there. The setting is perfect for enjoying Siquijor island away from the tourist crowds of San Juan.

“Not value for money. Understand it is cheap but you still have to provide basic amenities.”

You get what you pay for – it was very cheap and the facilities match that price. We asked the owner if our valuables would be safe, and she assured us they would be. Still, we left our motorbike helmets outside the room overnight and one of mine was stolen. I told her it was for kids riding past the gate; she seemed unconcerned. After paying 1500 pesos, I had to buy a new helmet. The owner might need to warn locals that this is unacceptable. The accommodation is near a beach littered with rubbish; it’s hard to imagine using that as a selling point without some cleaning effort. That’s just how it is in the Philippines.

Hello, the location outside the city is nice – no smelly cars and no bright lights. I talked to Geneviève about setting up a small camp on the terrace to keep insects and rain out, and it would be inexpensive!

The friendly lady and her husband run the place. The outdoor kitchen, nice rooms, and short walk to the beach are positives. However, there’s no real internet connection and the rental process for motorbikes is slow; they do offer to drive you to Lilian.
