Lovely Double Room with Private Bathroom

Good communication with the owner and the location were positives. However, the lower room was supposed to have a private bathroom, but the bathroom was outside the room and used by more people because there was no key and anyone could enter, so it was really not private.

I strongly recommend against renting here. After arrival, the owner revealed that he was renting the room on another platform that he claimed worked with Booking but it did not. As a result we were left without accommodation. The owner tried to make amends by offering us one night in another room. Meanwhile he urged us to cancel the reservation so he could “refund us.” After we contacted Booking, the next day he claimed they had kept him on the phone for an hour, which was just a matter of a few minutes difference between the platform’s message and his. The area itself was shabby and seemed very unsettling. I do not recommend it.

The good communication with the center, bus stop in front, metro nearby, equipped kitchen, hair dryer and body soap. And although the listing didn't say the house was shared, it said the whole house was for rent; when the guy informed me, he let me choose the lower room because it had a bathroom next to it and was not shared with others unlike the second floor bathroom. Everything was quite dirty—carpets, bathroom, floor. The shower water was hot and you couldn’t adjust the temperature. The bathroom radiator had its switch in our room, hidden under our bed headboard, and there were no indications where it was; I asked the owner and he told me where it was. During the 5 days we stayed, no one came to clean at all.

The facilities were actually really good. The shared kitchen was nicely arranged with plenty of accessories. Our double room was quite small and the bed could only be reached from one side, which was a bit tricky. The ensuite was separate and outside the bedroom, but it still had a nice powerful shower. We ran into a problem on arrival, but after we let the owner know he went above and beyond to fix it, even driving an hour to the property to sort it out—10/10 for that.

The place was easy to reach and the location fit everything we needed; it’s right next to Hackney Central overground and Bethnal Green underground. The host was incredibly helpful and everything matched the description exactly, giving great value for a London stay.
