“Cool place to stay”
The location was good, but the room felt a bit sticky because of the humidity.
“Was okay but loud”
The staff were very nice and the rooms were clean. The problem was that the people above us were super loud; their kids ran around like they were playing soccer, and even after we complained nothing changed, so it stayed loud all day and all night until after 12 am. On the bright side, the hotel was clean, the older lady I met was as sweet as she could be, the room was nice and very comfortable, and the location was good.
“Ocracoke was Charming and we love the golf cart.”
I stayed in a cramped room where the paint on the furniture was peeling off the top; the staff were very nice and helpful, but I wish I had booked a larger room and had extra pillows.

I loved sitting on the porch and people‑watching; the spot is great for reaching all the village restaurants and shops, and they even let you bring pets, so I brought my dog. I also appreciated being able to rent a golf cart with my room reservation and enjoyed the pool. The only downside was that the hotel sits right on the road, which made me nervous about hitting someone—though it also made for excellent people‑watching.

We paid for a Deluxe King Suite but were handed a standard Queen Room. After booking, I received a confirmation from Blackbeards Lodge asking if I would bring a pet; I said yes and was told of an extra pet fee at check‑in, proving they had my reservation details. When we arrived, we discovered we had not been given the Deluxe King suite we paid for; instead, we were put in an old, worn Queen room that clearly did not match our reservation. I spoke with Cynthia at the front desk, who did not acknowledge the mistake or offer a refund for the price difference, instead blaming me and giving several explanations. She even said I had every right to be upset and told me how to seek reimbursement, but when the hotel was contacted on my behalf, they refused any adjustment. The biggest disappointment was not just the wrong room, but the complete lack of accountability. We paid for one room category and received another, and no one at the property was willing to fix it. If you book here, confirm your room type before arrival and verify you actually receive the accommodations you paid for. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel.
