We stayed four nights at this resort. No one was there to greet us upon arrival, so we had to find the reception ourselves. The facilities were old and dirty – the pool was cloudy, and the beds/sofas were stained. Hidden fees were added: $45 F per person to pick us up from the ferry, so $90 F round trip. No other resort had such a charge, and they only warned us about it three days before arrival. Every evening we found cockroaches in the bathroom. The funky fish website advertised a restaurant with a wide menu, but when we arrived they told us that because there were only 10 guests, there would be a single dish for everyone. The food quality was not great, reminiscent of cafeteria food, though the portions were correct. The activities were a disappointment: the ones listed on the website were greatly reduced, the advertised spa did not exist, and the only activities available were surf/snorkeling, which were more expensive than advertised or required paying for transport to other resorts, or paying again for on-site activities. When we asked about the island hike, they told us it wasn't worth it and that we should pay for the paid activities instead. The beach was not suitable for swimming or snorkeling. It could be a good spot if you spend your days surfing, but otherwise it isn't worth it – we were very bored. The highlight of the stay was the lack of network, except when we climbed the island's heights; the Wi‑Fi (which we had to request) also didn't work and kept cutting out.

The location was great, the housekeeping and ground staff were friendly, and there were a good mix of other guests. Boat usage was flexible when available. The food was good but lacked variety and substance. There was no surf guide or real emphasis on surfing beyond booking times for the next morning; tide times were never posted on the chalkboard next to the tide chart. Transfer boats broke down multiple times, meaning trips to the surf were shared between experienced and beginner surfers, which was frustrating when one spot was larger and more challenging but most people wanted a smaller, user‑friendly spot, leaving some guests feeling unsafe when the engine cut out or struggled to start. No Kava ceremonies or local traditions were offered (except a couple of songs at dinner), no happy hour or group activities, no spare wax, legropes, booties, or snacks. The basic food offerings were simple with little variety. The bungalows are older, which is fine, but some general maintenance and care would go a long way to improve their current condition. I would be happy to go back but will book our own boat and spend more time at Musket Cove and the couple of resorts there. There is a supermarket and great restaurants only 10‑15 m away by boat, and the surf is around 30‑45 m away.

The place had potential and was well‑located for day trips, and most of the staff were honest, helpful and friendly, with food that turned out better than expected. The meal times felt very rigid, like a school cafeteria where everyone waits for their plate, and even after double‑confirming our mainland boat pick‑up, the crew were more than two hours late, forcing us to ask another resort for assistance; the senior staff could use some improvement.

The staff arranged an extra early breakfast each day so we could hit the waves first thing. The spot is perfect for surfing, and I’d definitely return. The portions were a bit small; grab snacks in your room if you’re surfing a lot. The food was good, especially the fish curry.
