The atmosphere and setting were great, but the receptionist at check‑in was cold, not smiling, and we felt like we were bothering her with our questions. It seemed the parking fee was set arbitrarily for the client.

The location was fine, staff were friendly, and rooms were clean. However, the restaurant food quality was poor, the buffet and spa were old, and although we could reserve other on‑site restaurants, they were often fully booked.

The pools, especially the indoor one for cooler days, were great. Our room stayed quiet, and despite the hotel’s size, there was no nighttime noise. The buffet food didn’t impress us and the quality was lacking.

A 20‑minute walk from Funchal’s center, the hotel is very quiet with a beautiful garden and two lovely pools. The view of Funchal is stunning, and the morning and evening buffets are excellent. The dining staff are very friendly. However, there are no welcome water bottles or a welcome cocktail in the room, and it’s hard to tell the difference between Pestana Garden and Pestana Miramar at first. Parking is scarce and costs 15 euros per day. It’s unfortunate that there’s only one toaster for two slices, yet the breakfast buffet is of high quality.
