“Good becomes GREAT when people CARE!”

Our usual review: a beautiful Rajasthani Haveli with a truly authentic feel. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable top-floor room with a view to Udaipur Palace. The Haveli is full of character, with lovely gardens (including 3 tortoises) and a good-sized swimming pool. There is also a charming garden restaurant offering an all-day dining menu, plus a coffee café serving a full range of barista-made coffees and delicious homemade cakes and slices. The SPECIAL review: I caught the flu, and this is where Hotel Mahendra Prakash truly showed its character. They extended our stay by five nights without any fuss, which was an immediate relief for my husband and me. I needed a couple of days of bed rest, and I could not have chosen a better place to recover. Everyone knew I was unwell, and everyone cared that I was resting and getting better. No one was intrusive, but help was always nearby when I needed it. I had a steady supply of hot chicken soup, fresh room and bed linen, and the quiet I needed to recuperate. Ajay and Anupama own the hotel, with Mili and Hukam managing the front desk and a night manager whose name I lost. They are at the hotel throughout the day and night, always stop by your table for a chat and to make sure everything is going well. The managers make every effort to help with information, taxis, tuk-tuks, and anything else you might need — even a hospital visit. The restaurant team are just as helpful, taking the time to explain the menu and encourage guests to try new dishes. They were always willing to assist and offer more. The entire team at Hotel Mahendra Prakash genuinely cares about guests’ health and wellbeing. Their kindness and thoughtfulness are what take Hotel Mahendra Prakash from good to GREAT. “Un hôtel charmant, merveilleusement bien décoré et particulièrement propre à proximité de tout”

The hotel sits close to City Palace and the tourist center, easily reachable by car, and once settled you can walk everywhere. It feels like an old family home, almost a little palace of a former family, absolutely charming, very well decorated and especially clean. The staff are attentive, ready to help at any moment. We had a ground‑floor room with a terrace that had comfortable armchairs, and both the room and terrace faced the inner garden and pool. The downside of being on the ground floor and facing the garden was limited privacy, so we had to pull curtains for quiet and the room was a bit dark. But since we spent most of our time exploring, it didn’t hurt. The breakfast had a wide variety, from Indian dishes to classic continental fare, but the quality and flavors (industrial fruit juice, slightly dry pancakes) left a less unforgettable impression.

“Exceptional especially for solo female travellers”

This exceptional property is within walking distance of the main attractions and felt incredibly safe and well‑located for a solo female traveler. The building is beautiful, the breakfast fabulous, and the staff went above and beyond. Special thanks to Mili for her fantastic customer service—she posted items we had left behind to our next destination and followed up diligently to ensure we received them. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. I rarely give top billing to accommodation because there’s always room for improvement, but I truly loved this hotel and felt exceptionally comfortable as a solo female.
