The staff were exceptionally friendly and the room was spotlessly clean; they even preheated the room for me. It feels like an old Travelodge, but for a budget stay it offers great value. The mattress is comfy and you can choose between firm or softer pillows, and the shower is nice. If you’re over 6 ft 3 in, your feet will dangle off the end of the bed, which didn’t bother us, but the hotel’s restaurant is permanently closed. Luckily there’s a 24‑hour McDonald’s, Costa, and a garden centre with a cafe on the same site if you need food.
