“Appreciative of a cabin stay with certain limitations in a somewhat unique rural environment”
The area could be described as an expansive natural pleasant "no-frills" rural environment, quiet and relatively easy to access, given its "off-road" location. We would describe the quality of the accommodation as either fundamental or "basic", attracting commensurate charges accordingly. Probably a desirable place to stay for those travellers where "budget consciousness" is a paramount consideration. The owner and manager was exceptionally personable and willing to make guests feel as welcome as possible. At the end of a hard day's driving, it was comforting to know we had at least somewhere reasonable to spend the night. Our expectations regarding accommodation standards has been strongly influenced beforehand as a result of cabin stays in high profile, well-established caravan parks. On this occasion the cabin impressed as being older and in need of thorough renovation. It was however adequately equipped to meet all reasonable needs. Although provision of TV and video facilities appeared to be more than sufficient, speaking as elderly people with particularly low levels of IT knowledge, we could not understand the instructions for using them. Since there were prominent notices inside drawing attention to water conservation and the requirement to exercise utmost vigilance over water use, because we are slow movers at our ages, we felt inhibited about using the showers and therefore refrained from doing so
