I stayed in the large room overlooking the ocean. Tall ceiling, wooden balcony, colonial vibes and you could also see the lighthouse from the balcony. It was lovely, just as it was in the pictures online. Galle is tiny so regardless where you stay everything is a short walk. It was so noisy. The room itself was a 10/10 but the noise from the road and neighbors next door was so much, it was hard to sleep at night

I reserved a single bedroom but ended up with the entire villa. Nalin, our host, was fantastic, whipping up great breakfasts and taking care of everything, even doing laundry for us. The location was superb—right by the lighthouse, in the middle of the fort, with tourist spots and restaurants a short walk away. The beach was next door, so we swam every morning before 8 am before the crowds showed up.

The location is excellent, with Dutch‑era style and a huge bungalow. It’s too old and needs maintenance and modernization; there were many cobwebs, and the breakfast bread was 1.5 months old.

We had the villa all to ourselves for the whole stay (we were the only guests in a three‑room property). The front room with its balcony was great for watching the world go by. Ravi was excellent, attending to our needs, giving advice, and even doing our laundry. The location couldn’t have been better—inside the Dutch colonial fort, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, the beach over the road, a juice bar next door, and coffee shops just metres away. Fantastic. The only downside was the 5 o’clock knock from the local military training, shouting “hup, hup, hup” in the middle of the night, but it wasn’t a full-blown revolution.

Villa Aurora sits just a few steps from the lighthouse and the walls of the Dutch Fort, and is less than a few minutes from the Old Hospital and the busy streets full of restaurants, bars, and shops. It buzzes during the day but stays quiet at night. The villa itself is huge, spotless, and fully equipped. The balcony with sea view and lighthouse view is amazing. Nalin is on hand to help with anything, and he cooked a lovely breakfast. Lakshika organized a first‑class trip to Udawalawe for us. Highly recommend for anyone staying in Galle. No complaints—great stay!
