Finding a safe place to stay in an unfamiliar town was my top priority, and The Dragonfly Inn exceeded my expectations. The owners are wonderfully accommodating and live in this beautiful historic house. My stay felt entirely secure and smooth thanks to clear text instructions, keypad access on the doors, and well-lit private parking right at the entrance. My room was comfortable, with access to a deck and a peaceful guest dining area. The breakfast setup is fantastic—selecting from 4 delicious menu choices delivered each evening made mornings so effortless and satisfying. Overall, a incredibly relaxing vibe, and getting to meet their sweet dog Sunshine was a highlight. I will definitely return!

The breakfast was excellent and beautifully arranged. The AC in the room kept me cool on a scorching day. The hosts were welcoming and always on hand. It was convenient to have an outdoor porch directly from the room. I would have liked a few snacks in the Garden room for the higher rate. Hickory’s street names and navigation are confusing, even for GPS, but that’s not their fault.

The garden breakfast spot was charming, calm, and perfect for sipping tea. I chose from four options, including tasty morning tacos, and had a variety of teas. The hosts were fantastic—quick to answer questions and share local info. The bed was comfy, and I enjoyed the private deck entrance overlooking the backyard. Free parking, a quiet street, and just a two‑block walk to Union Square’s boutiques, wine shops, eateries, walking paths, and kids’ play area made it great. I’d definitely return to this home.
