A quiet spot with a nice view, well‑maintained outdoor areas featuring a pool and a lawn, and a pleasant vibe thanks to the outdoor restaurant. Nothing else really stands out.

We stayed at the Grand Hôtel Palace de Varese and our review is quite mixed, especially considering the price paid, even though we had a discount. The exteriors are undoubtedly the highlight: the pool, bar, terrace restaurant, and various outdoor spaces are beautiful and well maintained. The common areas, reception, and the superb staircase add to the charm. However, the room disappointed us a bit. The bed was large and comfortable with a great view of the lake, but the overall room lacked modernity and freshness. The bathroom, with its bathtub equipped with old faucets instead of a walk‑in shower, would benefit from renovation. Practical amenities such as a drying rack for swimsuits would also be appreciated. The biggest weakness is the breakfast, which falls far short of the hotel’s advertised standard. The coffee isn’t even served at the table, and the selection and quality of products seemed very disappointing. We had a much better breakfast at cheaper hotels. We also dined at the hotel’s restaurant. The meal was good, but again the value for money did not convince us. We felt the establishment relies more on its exceptional setting than on services that truly match its rates. In the end, despite a splendid setting and remarkable outdoor spaces, we left fairly disappointed with our stay. For a hotel of this category, we expected more refined services and a better value for money.
