The Lubo - self check-in is a fully automated boutique hotel in Lucerne's historic old town, 10 minutes from Lucerne main station and 200 meters from Lake Lucerne, Chapel Bridge, and a bus stop. Newly opened in December 2022, it offers flexible room access with mobile key, free WiFi, and spacious units with flat-screen TVs, hairdryers, and box-spring beds.

The spot was perfect—away from the tourist crowds but still central and easy to reach the old town; it offered the best value without the usual tourist hassle, and there’s a great restaurant right at the entrance as a bonus. The downside was that my room, number 105, was the worst in the building—right at the top of the stairs next to the hotel bathrooms, so it was pretty noisy.

The spot is great, beds are comfy, shower is solid, but the kitchen is lacking—no pot, no colander, just salt and pepper; a splash of cooking oil and a couple more seasonings would help.

The room is spacious, has an elevator, and is close to the station—there’s a cobblestone path leading up to the hotel, a market at the station, and it’s right in the town center, also near the cruise departures. The only missing item was a microwave, but otherwise everything is perfect—highly recommend!

The location in Lucerne’s center is spot‑on, the price is very competitive, check‑in is super convenient and the bed is huge! It would be nice to have a few coffees and tea bags in the room (they were only in the laundry).
