This old pub has a lot of character and the staff are really friendly. We had a great room - clean, quiet, and warm - with a comfy bed and good shower. We enjoyed a few drinks in the bar and a full English breakfast that was a real bargain. The only downside is that our room was on the first floor of the main building, which could do with a bit of a refresh - it's looking a bit tired throughout.

We loved staying here - the location is great and the staff gave us a warm welcome. They were really hospitable and the food was good too. It was also super convenient that we could drop off our rucksacks before checking in and explore Bury St Edmunds. No complaints at all!

The team here were amazing - Steve and everyone else were so cheerful and helpful. We were running late for breakfast, but they didn't rush us at all. They answered all our questions, helped us find places to eat (we ended up having a couple of meals at the Bushell), and even gave us an umbrella when the weather turned nasty. The only thing that put a damper on our stay was the awful weather!

The location was pretty good, but that's about it. The property was a bit of a disaster - it was dirty and smelly, and it needs a lot of work to sort it out. Our room was basically right next to the car park, so we had to put up with early morning noise. And to top it off, the kitchen staff were smoking right outside the kitchen door. Not impressed.
