The building is a charming old‑style structure right in the center, and the staff were very friendly, though some of the fittings felt a bit dated.

There were no negatives.

The exterior look and location were appealing, yet the hotel itself feels very tired and could use some TLC.

We were given an entire flat that Charles Dickens once occupied—huge, with a kitchen and a large bathroom. The building, over 400 years old, shows wear and tear that tells its history, making it a very special place to stay, though a few pots and pans would have been a nice addition.

The staff were friendly, the room was spacious with a nice big bed, but overall the decor was old and neglected, giving a sad feel; there was no fridge, the paint work was poor, curtains fell off the rail, and towels from previous guests were still left in the room.
