“Escale près le matera”
The welcome was great and the value for money was excellent. The shower was small and there was a lack of furniture on the balcony.

I picked Hotel Murgia by chance after an overnight ferry; I was scanning deals and chose a place that was reasonably priced and easy to drive to various sights. It turned out to be a brilliant pick! The location is great for car travelers, with easy access to tourist spots within an hour—some are just 30 minutes away, while Lecce and Taranto are a bit farther. The hotel has a large parking lot that locks at night. There’s a decent garden in front (I loved the mirror there!) where you can unwind, especially if you bring a dog (the hotel is pet‑friendly). The on‑site restaurant serves excellent food and good house wine; it’s a shame we usually returned around midnight, by which time it was already closed. The room was spacious, very clean (housekeeping does a great job), the AC worked perfectly, and there was a balcony overlooking the garden. The hotel was very quiet, with no outside or neighbor noise. The staff were friendly and helpful, even fixing something on my car—thanks, Domenico!—making the stay truly pleasant; I felt almost like I was among friends. It’s a pity we had to leave and the experience ended, but I’d love to return. If you want a clean place with easy access to many local towns for day trips, this is a great option. One more thing: the room rate included a decent breakfast—unlike the classic Italian breakfast, there was a wider range of food options to choose from here, not just a *cornetto* and coffee.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the parking was convenient, and the breakfast was satisfying. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The building and rooms feel a bit dated and could use a refresh. The TV isn’t Smart and the position isn’t very comfortable for watching from the bed.

The breakfast was mediocre for a 3‑star hotel. In the room, you can’t watch TV because it’s not facing the bed or the armchairs. The shower is cramped, the bar is sad, and the small outdoor park has been abandoned.
