The automatic check‑in worked smoothly and the hotel provided a safe spot for our bicycles, but there were a lot of fruit flies buzzing around the breakfast buffet.

Breakfast was fine, and the location is very good. The self‑check‑in machine didn’t work (as it had for other guests before us), but calling the listed number connected us to a very competent and extremely kind lady who helped us out.

Breakfast was very acceptable, the lady at the buffet was courteous and friendly, and food requests were met promptly. The self‑check‑in worked smoothly, and there were plenty of parking spots. However, despite cool nights, the room and bathroom weren’t heated, making it very, very cold and uncomfortable. A bit more cleanliness in the bathroom/WC area would help.

The location in the center of Raabs is great, the room is old‑fashioned but spacious, and the price for a Junior Suite with breakfast is unbeatable. Our stay at the Stadthotel Thaya had several highlights. 😄 Our room was right above the “Kutschn” – perfect for those who still want a bit of nightlife in bed. The bass kept us up late. 🎶🛏️ Breakfast was the next adventure: supposedly there was salmon! 🐟 We heard about it but never saw it, probably because re‑stocking was limited. Around 8:30 am – breakfast runs until 10 am – there were plates, glasses, cutlery, rolls, bread, orange juice and egg dishes. Sausage and cheese were refilled. A larger group had already arrived, so the hotel should have anticipated more guests. We briefly considered inviting external guests to breakfast, but we’re glad we didn’t – it would have been awkward. The “if it’s out, it’s out” rule applied not only to breakfast: the S‑Budget soap and the paper towel dispenser in the men’s WC were empty. That’s a consequence worth acknowledging. 😄 The real issue was the lone staff member who had to juggle breakfast, service, and apparently half the hotel’s operations; she seemed overwhelmed. It appears the problem is more about staffing than the staff themselves. In short, if you enjoy bass at night and want a “first come, first served” breakfast, you get two experiences for the room price. 😉 PS: Check your Wi‑Fi – the provided access code doesn’t work.
