“Marvelous and surprising private retreat.”
Beautifully designed place in an amazing location, literally across the road from the entrance to Sambangan Secret Garden. We especially loved the gorgeous garden bathroom and outdoor shower under the trees, ridiculously fluffy towels, and unexpectedly excellent shower products. The mattress very comfortable too, as were the bean bags we chilled on for hours on the porch taking in the beautiful view. Our favourite thing was the little rice-paddy overflow canal at the edge of the property, where village kids come to swim and play. Hearing them laughing and learning their water splashing tricks was such a lovely part of being there. One tip: the room really needs a bedside lamp. We bought a cheap warm lamp + socket plug at Mr DIY Singaraja and put it behind the nightstand for indirect light. Perfect. A couple of useful things to know: you hear the water rushing through the canal 24/7, which we loved as natural white noise, but might not be everyone’s cup of tea. The traditional construction also means thin walls, so when the village wakes around 5am, you’ll hear the roosters, dogs and morning life beginning. We found it part of the charm, but light sleepers might want earplugs
The spot was amazing, right in front of the waterfall entrance. The wooden houses are tucked between trees and orchids, and there’s a little river on the side; everything was very clean and the staff were kind and attentive. They waited for us when we arrived late and were understanding when we were a bit late with checkout. The boiler was very small, so we had to rush to take showers.
“Perfect location for Aling Aling waterfall”
The location is great, with a beautiful garden, rice field, and stream right in front of our cottage. We appreciated the bottles of water and the bean bags on the big porch, which were great for hanging out.
“Pretty! With good potential…but we didn’t stay a second night”
The garden is beautiful and the place is well situated next to Aling Aling waterfalls. The bed was comfortable to sleep on. The hot water ran out after 1 to 3 minutes, so we had cold showers. The room doesn’t have bedside lamps, and there is no seating inside; a bench or chair would be great. The room smells of mothballs or something similar, and one side of the roof appears to have mould. Perhaps these correlate somehow.
