We booked a single night in a three‑person air‑conditioned room, which costs an extra 500 and I’d suggest getting it. The location was superb—just steps from cafés and restaurants that stay open late, and a short stroll to the beach. The train station is a ten‑minute walk if you’re catching a local train. Nightlife in the area is lively; I saw many people heading out after sunset. The staff kept the property clean, and the beds, floor, and bathroom were all spotless. We were placed in the building next to the traditional home shown in the photos, where all other rooms are located; I would have preferred the older home, but those rooms only had double beds. The owner was very responsive and arranged a fantastic shikara boat that my parents loved, plus a taxi to Varkala Beach. On the downside, a few cats made a lot of noise at night next to our three‑person room. Because we stayed over a weekend, kids played on the soccer ground next to the property until 2 am. This probably wouldn’t bother guests in the two‑person rooms of the old building, which are farther from the cats and playground. We also encountered many mosquitoes, but the owner supplied a mosquito racket that helped.
